The first-ever commemorative calendar was originally planned as a 2006 calendar, but will now be a 2007 calendar. With various Rotary members depicted each month, the calendars will surely keep people smiling throughout the year. It will be a souvenir, as well as a fundraiser for the club. The photos, taken by local photographer, Tom Wurr, will be produced in sepia-tone. They will reflect the seasons and simulate rural, frontier images that promise to be entertaining, as well as revealing. One page in the calendar features a photograph of its members wearing sober expressions and old-fashioned attire. Calendar models featured in the tastefully humorous production are Dr. Bob Vonnahme, Brad Vollstedt, Roger Schmiedeskamp, Bob Mueller, Greg Sextro, Todd Stadtlander, Kevin Boyle, Gaylin Ranniger, Larry Pote, Dr. Scott Bowker, Jeff Mikkelson, Doug Gifford and Don Ringgenberg. The calendars are expected to go on sale May 1 at a cost of $15 each. A portion of the calendar proceeds has been designated for city park improvements. Calendars can be ordered using the form below. They will also be available at several Main Street businesses and from Rotary members who will be autographing photos at various times and places, including the all-school reunion.
Rotary Club of Manning adopted a lighthearted spirit to generate smiles and, ultimately, dollars for Rotary projects by creating a pioneer-theme 2007 commemorative calendar which features photographs of selected male members of the organization. The fundraising project is patterned after a similar calendar project which proved to be very successful for a club on the U.S. east coast.
