My story

The launch of the Manning News Journal in June 2000 was the result of my passion for sharing the news of Manning with its citizens. After working 25 years at Manning’s weekly newspaper, I stepped away from the work for two years and found I missed it very much. After much prayer and with the support of my late husband, Alan, I printed a sample issue in fall of 1998 and distributed it free of charge throughout Main Street. The overwhelming response told me I needed to pursue my dream.

Originally, I hoped people would purchase the paper from vendor locations, but I was  quickly bombarded with requests to subscribe. The Manning News Journal is now read throughout the U.S. and in Germany.

Six issues of the paper are printed annually: February, April, June, August, October and November.

The newspaper continues to carry news of the community, its residents and alumni who accomplish amazing things and provide an endless supply of story content. I am grateful to Manning’s business people for their unfailing support and to readers who continue to purchase the paper.

Thank you
Pam
